Comparative study of Variable Air Volume and Variable and Refrigerant Volume for Automotive Workshop

I IOE Graduate Conference,

  • Pokhara , Nepal
  • Confrence Paper
  • July 2022
    • Created AC systems with OpenStudio software and simulated to determine overall energy usage under various load scenarios.

The purpose of this study is to compare Variable Air Volume (VAV) with Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning systems, as well as to determine the thermal comfort conditions in a Tyre Retreading Center. The air conditioning systems (AC) are created with OpenStudio software and simulated to determine overall energy usage under various load scenarios. It was found out that VRV system was the most efficient in comparision to VAV system with regards to energy saving. The most suitable system for tyre retreading center was examined, and it was discovered that the VRV system was the most energy efficient. The most suitable system for tyre retreading center was discovered to be the ceiling cassette type VRV system.

Effect of orientation on heat transfer coefficient of Heat Pipe

RTSTI,

  • Pokhara , Nepal
  • Confrence Paper
  • May 2022
    • Effect of gravity and capillary forces was seen when heat pipes were arranged in 0°, 45° and 90° respectively with the horizontal plane.

Heat pipes are fully sealed multiphase heat transfer devices that use fluids’ high lead heat vaporization to achieve systematic heat transfer. Heat pipes work in more or less isothermal conditions with low temperature difference across its length. The effectiveness of any heat pipe depends on the average temperature of the evaporator and condenser along with the heat input. The effect of gravity and capillary forces is seen when heat pipes are arranged in 0°, 45° and 90° respectively with the horizontal plane. All three different orientations of heat pipes are considered with evaporator maintained at temperatures 500K. 550K and 600K for three different cases. The heat transfer coefficient and heat flux of both evaporator and condenser are obtained and analyzed for different temperatures in the evaporator.
